Yesterday as I was counselling, I shared how important perspective is and how it attracts the result we want.

I shared with the counselee, the hurt and mistakes at the beginning of my marriage and some struggles even now.

I said something to her that made the whole difference –

I told her that we have 365/366days, hubby didn’t hurt me daily; some days were filled with laughter and excitement, some days were filled with boring routine and few days were filled with hurt. The difference is how I intentionally choose to see my marriage in every situation.

Always remember, when you chose your spouse, you actually chose the good and bad aspects of your spouse by default.

So when interactions between both of you go well; rejoice, appreciate and applaud. But when it goes sour; forgive, stand by your spouse, remember the good times and work out the bad situation.

We have two kinds of marriage –

  • Happy marriage: Couples who look at all sides of the situation and still choose to see the good in the relationship, not only the bad.
  • Unhappy marriage: Couples who focus only on the bad situation and neglect to see any good side of it.

To stay the whole long course of marriage, we will have to deliberately and prayerfully choose what we see daily.

Dear friends, what do you choose to see?

Love,
