The death rate in just these two weeks is becoming alarming! This has led to us looking at creating awareness and encouraging everyone to ” take care of yourself.”

It’s okay to set goals and plan forward, but we all must learn to also set goals for periods of rest. A rested mind and body are more useful and will deliver more than an unrested body. Just like a car needs to be serviced and cannot be on 24 hours, no one should pride themselves from not resting.

To love is to value you, and part of valuing you is to take care of yourself and learn to understand certain signs your body sends out to you.
Do not imagine that hubby and I have mastered the art of rest yet, but we are becoming more intentional on how we go about it. Rest is critical for your survival and therefore rest we must.

1. God’s way of daily resetting our buttons so that we can function better is called rest.

2. Rest reduces burnout, which literally affects our emotions positively and keeps us in a balanced mood necessary for relating efficiently with one another.

“Exodus 33:12-14 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”

3. Without rest, we shorten our life span and the opportunity to live a long life.

4. Rest keeps you looking young and agile.

5. Rest is a function of loving one’s self.

Until we plan to rest, we might not succeed in giving our mind and body the best shot in life. Learn to rest; but do not become lazy by using rest as an excuse.
Will you rest today?
