This blog is dedicated to all singles, divorced, widowed and those who are not loved by their spouse. You may be forsaken but not forgotten.

There is a story in the bible that has comforted me on days that it felt like love was lost, and I felt so lonely.

Jacob was a fine young man who had fallen in love with a young pretty maiden called Rachel. But life happened and he found himself married to Leah whom he had no feelings for. Leah tried everything to be appreciated by her husband, but it seemed it was in vain.

Jacob had only eyes for his love Rachel, whom he eventually married. As he struggled to do his duties unto Leah while loving Rachel; he noticed something he had not seen before – Leah’s character was consistent but Rachel was selfish and even had a knack for lying. He remembered the day he came home and met Leah on his bed, only for him to find out that Rachel gave him up for a handful of mandrake! Who professes love and does that?

Now Rachel is dead because of a lie and he is left alone with the one he had forsaken. Will there ever be a relationship between him and Leah, or will they stay together just for the children’s sake?

This story was written a thousand years ago, but it is as relevant as it was then.
  • Many singles are pondering why the one they loved chose another; someone that cannot be compared to them.
  • The widowed struggles to understand why God gave them love and took it at short notice.
  • Then some are in a loveless marriage, where their spouse (husband or wife), seems to be selfish. Always pursuing what catches their fancy (the opposite sex, career, self etc), without even thinking of the spouse they are married to.

No matter where you fall into, do not think it is the end of the story. For Leah it was not; she became a rock for her family and the lineage of Jesus came through her son Judah (which means praise).

What happened to Leah can happen to you. If only you acknowledge that though you have been forsaken by men, you will never be forsaken by God!

Latch on to praise in the midst of it all and see miracles happen far beyond your expectation.
