There is no better time to encourage yourself than now! With all that is happening, it will take our individual and collective encouragement to get to the finish line.

What is our finish line as a nation? That a new Nigeria is born, where peace and unity reigns now and always.

How can you encourage yourself?

Do not deny how you feel: David was heartbroken. He acknowledged and grieved as an individual/community (1Samuel 30:6)

He prayed: after coming home from battle and realizing that the enemies had taken their wives, children and burnt their properties; he stopped all activities and prayed. Prayer not only encourages but also refreshes you for the journey ahead.

Be sure of which direction to go: David stayed in prayers till he had a strategy on how to win the fight. There’s a scripture that says – “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5 KJV).
This is crucial during a crisis.

Take action: when strategy is given in the place of prayer, then physical actions begin to take place. Action requires movement. Begin to find ways to reach the goal. This goal or action plan should be

S – Specific – clear to all.

M – Measurable – create milestones.

A – Agreement  –  agree on achievable goals by all Stakeholders.

R – Relevant – goals must be relevant to the plan/cause we want to achieve.

T – Time- bound, example 2023. This is crucial, for a goal without a time limit is simply a wish. Please take note, the time could be met earlier or later. The idea of time is for focus.

As we journey together into the new Nigeria, let us continually encourage ourselves in the Lord.
