Ngee says… Learning to combat your thoughts is a crucial aspect of life.

I remember vividly after our wedding, we were unpacking my suitcases and my husband picked up a frame of my ex-boyfriend and I. Boy, was I shocked! How did I make such a grievous mistake? It took a while for me to realize that my thoughts drove me to put the picture in my suitcase without me knowing.

Many of us might disagree with me about the power of thoughts. But look closely at your actions, they were preceded by your thinking or what you had in mind.

Anyone who’s having or had an affair, will tell you it all began in thought/mind. The scenes usually plays out in their mind before the reality takes place.

Yesterday, I heard of siblings who killed a girl because of boyfriend issues. I could not comprehend it. Then I remembered – “if you do not combat your thoughts, yours thought will rule you”.

Does it mean that these thoughts are peculiar to a particular set of people?
Of course not! The difference is that while some dwell on those thoughts others combat them by intentionally refusing those thoughts and inputting good thoughts (Philippians 4:8).

We all are slaves to our thoughts or thinking patterns. I remember a story that depicts the power of thought:

A young man visited another city. He met an old man at the city gate and asked him how the people are. The old man replied, “they are like those you left behind.” What the old man was saying to this young man was, mankind are the same all over. You simply attract those you think about.

Rich says…

Thoughts actually grant us access to the impossible, so much that we rise or fall based on the quality of our thinking. Begin to think right people, it is never too late to do the right thing.

Every successful person will testify that their thoughts were geared towards success or greatness years before any physical manifestation was seen.

So today, I beg you to pause and look inwards:
  • What am I thinking of?
  • How deliberate am I in the things I watch and read?
  • Who are those I surround myself with?
  • What excites me?

We call on you to be intentional and guard your thoughts; lest they take you where you never wanted to go.
