KMA held its first Couples Boot Camp on the 28th of January, 2017 at its office [1 Waheed Smith Olive Estate, Opposite Apple Hall, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, Nigeria].

Guest couples were welcomed, registered and were allocated money in different countries denominations for the task ahead. KMA Director Mrs Amaka Ogini introduced the alive game to couples while they sat in waiting for the remaining couples.

The extravagant event started around 10:32 am with 5 families in attendance. The event was ignited with a friendship/teamwork bonding game where the couples had to build a boat without the use of one of each individual’s hand [one of each couples hands tied to that of their spouse]. The moral lesson was for the families to learn teamwork and communication skill even in difficult situations and times.

Ngee [Mrs Ngozi Okonkwo] Co-founder of Keeping Marriage Alive Initiative welcomed the couples and initiated the filling of the vision form introductory page and continued the program.

The couples then had to go from there on to one of the Task of the day, where they had to buy materials with their allocated money in order to make a sandwich in a limited time frame. The game/task taught the couples in attendance time management and how to prioritize [scale of preference].

Thorough discussion and teaching on Communication was the focus of the workshop, coordinated by Ngee and Rich. Participants moved on to creating a Vision Board; with every individual writing out their visions and aspirations for the year and eventually finding a way to combine their aspiration and vision with those of their spouse and presented them in picture forms on a board.

Rich [Dr Richard Okonkwo] co-founder of Keeping Marriage Alive Initiative, reminded the participants of KMA’s forthcoming programs; Woman And Marriage on the 4th Feb and 5th in Amuwo Odofin and Victoria Island branch respectively. The participants were also informed about Fidelity walk and Couples Hangout coming up on the 11th and 12th of February.

In all, the program turned out to be a wondrous event that imparted couples lives and marriages leaving them stronger than they came.

The magnificent program ended with closing prayer and remark from Ngee and Rich [Dr & Mrs Richard Okonkwo].

Join us for the next one in July – 15th July, 2017
