Have you heard the song by Katy Nichole & Big Daddy Weave ‘God is in this story’? That is the summary of our Kenya journey! Earlier this year, we had planned to visit Kenya as part of our expansion and establishment strategy. But God had other plans for our Kenya journey.

God decided to do it His own way from the planning to the finances and much more. Our ED/founder Ngozi (Ngee)Okonkwo of Keeping Marriage Alive Initiative (KMAI) was able to represent us at some Kenya events from the UN Civil Society conference, to Africa Women Summit and finally to KMAI Kenya Meet and Greet that held on Sunday, 13th May 2024.

  • The United Nations Civil Society Conference at Kenya was one of the largest forums of like-minded people coming together to discuss and make a global difference while impacting at the grassroots level. The SDG’S were brought to the fore for most of the attendees to discuss, learn, unlearn, and look for new ways to actualize the set goals. Indeed, together, we can do much more.

Ngee also attended the Africa Women Summit (AWS), an event convened by Mr. Belema Meshack-Hart. A big congratulations to Ngee, who was shortlisted among the 50 most influential Africa Women by Africa Scorecard and AWS. What a memorable 3 to 4 days event of learning, networking with other women of impact and rounding up with a mini tour at the giraffe Centre Kenya.

These events, which culminated to the grande finale of the much anticipated Keeping Marriage Alive Initiative (KMAI) Kenya Meet and Greet, with women sharing, learning, and building a healthier perspective about self and marriage. It was indeed a great way to begin the 11th year anniversary and celebration of Keeping Marriage Alive Initiative.

Key lessons learnt:

  1. Don’t be a lone voice. Find like-minded people to walk the journey of purpose with.
  2. Wisdom is in the streets, but you have to locate the right street that is for you.
  3. Your social capital is a very important part of your net worth.
  4. You are a solution away. Keep pushing.
  5. The world needs you to become who you are created to be. It’s time to emerge.

Romans 8:19 NKJ “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”

A big thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially the senior pastor of The Covenant Nation, Pastor Poju, Not On My Watch team, Kenya co-ordinators Maggie and Damaris, and all the people we met at this visit, we celebrate you all.

Kind regards,
