Yes I do!
Have you been in a wedding recently, were the couples have to say ‘Yes, I do’ to certain pronouncements made by their cleric, or a licensed marriage officer? It is an acknowledgement and a promise to fulfill certain obligations as a couple for the rest of their lives.
As Christians, do we realize that there is another ‘yes, I do’ that takes place when we become born again? When we come in front of the congregation to acknowledge that we have chosen to marry Jesus Christ. This simply means that we have agreed to live our lives in a way that glorifies and keeps our relationship with our bridegroom Jesus Christ.
As a Christian, when last did you make any decision bearing in mind your relationship with Jesus Christ?
Though married, are you aware that your relationship with God supersedes any other relationship?
Let us pray:
Lord, we thank You for the opportunity to say ‘yes I do’ to Jesus Christ. I ask for grace to daily make decisions bearing in mind the pronouncements I have agreed to –
- See life and make decisions through God’s eyes – John 3:3
- Obey the basic safety commandments of life – Deuteronomy 5:6-27
- Love others just like/as God has loved me – Matthew 22:37-38.
This I pray in Jesus name, Amen!
